Royal Tonic

A Tonic for Royalty! Empress Gin combines with lemon, basil and tonic to make a refreshing drink fit for kings! You could do this with other gins, but they wouldn’t look nearly as pretty!

Royal Tonic

A twist on the classic gin and tonic. This version swaps out the lime for lemon and adds Basil.

Ingredients

  • 8-10 Basil Leaves
  • 1 Lemon
  • 4oz Empress 1908 Gin
  • Tonic Water to top off

Instructions

  1. Shave off some skin of the lemon for garnish (optional)
  2. Juice the lemon into a cocktail shaker
  3. Add the basil leaves to the shaker, you may use more or less depending on how strong you want your basil flavor to be
  4. Gently muddle the basil leaves into the lemon juice
  5. Add the gin to the cocktail shaker
  6. Fill the shaker 3/4 the way up with ice and shake for ~15 seconds
  7. Prepare two glasses and add a few small ice cubes to each
  8. Double strain the lemon-basil-gin mixture over the ice
  9. Top both glasses up with tonic
  10. Give each a gentle stir for good luck
  11. Garnish with a lemon peel
  12. Enjoy!

Notes

You could really use any dry gin here, but the purple gin is just so pretty
