A Tonic for Royalty! Empress Gin combines with lemon, basil and tonic to make a refreshing drink fit for kings! You could do this with other gins, but they wouldn’t look nearly as pretty!

Royal Tonic
A twist on the classic gin and tonic. This version swaps out the lime for lemon and adds Basil.

Ingredients
- 8-10 Basil Leaves
- 1 Lemon
- 4oz Empress 1908 Gin
- Tonic Water to top off
Instructions
- Shave off some skin of the lemon for garnish (optional)
- Juice the lemon into a cocktail shaker
- Add the basil leaves to the shaker, you may use more or less depending on how strong you want your basil flavor to be
- Gently muddle the basil leaves into the lemon juice
- Add the gin to the cocktail shaker
- Fill the shaker 3/4 the way up with ice and shake for ~15 seconds
- Prepare two glasses and add a few small ice cubes to each
- Double strain the lemon-basil-gin mixture over the ice
- Top both glasses up with tonic
- Give each a gentle stir for good luck
- Garnish with a lemon peel
- Enjoy!

You could really use any dry gin here, but the purple gin is just so pretty
